Walter M Belt Sr.

Walter M. Belt Sr. age 86 of Clarksville passed away on Friday April 14, 2017 in Springfield, TN. He was born November 3, 1930 in Cleveland, OH the son of the late Walter Belt and Margie Graves Belt. Walter served his country in the U.S. Army for 23 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant. Following his military service he worked for 19 years as a machine operator at Trane Corporation. He is a member and deacon at the Greater Life Apostolic Church in Springfield. He is also a member of the Masonic Lodge and he enjoyed fishing and watching game shows on TV. He is survived by his son Walter M. Belt Jr. of Russellville, KY; a daughter Mona L. Hunsinger (Bonnie Way) of La Grange, KY; and Mona Paulette Hunsinger (Leroy Jr.) of Anderson, SC. He is also survived by brothers Gary Belt (Gwen) of Hendersonville; and David Belt (Wanda) of Madison. Walter is also survived by grandchildren Jerry Hunsinger Jr. (Levi Thomas); Walter Melvin "Chip" Belt III; Kristy Lacy (George Howard III; Sarah Wilson (Dustin Wilson); and Josh Hines (fiance Kayla Mauldin) and great grandchildren Jon Lacy, Nathan Lacy, Katie Lacy, Noah Williams, George Howard IV, Kianna Howard, J'Nae Howard, Korryn Hawkins, and Jessalyn Johnson. He is also survived by his caregiver, Rosemary Graves of Springfield. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Mona Sue Strange Belt; granddaughter Jessica Johnson, brothers Lawrence, Billy, Fred, and Gerald Belt and a daughter in law Judy Belt. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday April 18, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at the Chapel of Gateway Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Monday April 17, 2017 from 5-8 P.M.
