Vicki Brown Hughes, born on February 17, 1953, in Clarksville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2025, at Tennova Healthcare. A devoted mother and a cherished member of her community, Vicki will be remembered fondly for her unwavering commitment to education and the numerous lives she impacted throughout her career with the Montgomery County School System, from which she retired.
Vicki was a source of strength and love for her family. She leaves behind her three beloved sons, Adam Hughes (and his wife Bridget), Brian Hughes, and Paul Shelby, Jr. Vicki cherished her role as a grandmother to Dustin Shelby, Paul Shelby, and Adian Hughes, who brought immense joy and pride to her life. She is also survived by her loving brother, Billy G. Brown, Jr. (and his wife Amy), and her sister, Linda Scott. In addition, Vicki held a special bond with her nieces and nephews: Kala Murphy, Alex Scott, Parker Murphy, Madeline Murphy, Seth Murphy, Jacob Shimek.
Vicki was preceded in death by her parents, Billy Gene Brown, Sr. and Amy Jo (Brown) Sprinkle, her husband, Floyd Lee Hughes, and her sister, Susie Brown. Each of these individuals had a profound impact on her life and shaped her into the remarkable woman that she was.
As we remember Vicki Gene Hughes, we honor her legacy of kindness, teaching, and love. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Celebration of Life Service will be scheduled at a later date and time.
