Vester Parker

Elder Vester Parker Sr., age 64 of Clarksville went home to be with the Lord on Monday October 9, 2017 at Tristar Centennial Hospital in Nashville. He was born in Laurinburg, N.C. on September 27, 1953, the son of the late Sylvester and Elease Parker.

Vester served his country in the U.S. Army for 20 years, attaining the rank of Staff Sgt. He served in the 101st Airborne and found himself in many areas of the world. He retired in 1992. Following his time in the service he worked with his family in their church operated business, Cast Your Net Seafood Restaurant. He also served as the Associate Pastor of the Solid Rock FGB Church #5 in Oak Grove. He also served on the board of directors of the Solid Rock FGB Church International. Vester was a family man who was dedicated to the Lord and proud of his children. He was a graduate of Austin Peay University with a BS degree in Public Administration.

Survivors include his wife Pastor Olla Bracey Parker; sons Louis O. Parker (Leila) of Cape Coral, FL; Vester Parker Jr. (Claudia) of Clarksville; Freddie L. Parker (Jennifer) of Cape Coral, FL; and Dominik Parker, stationed in Hawaii and deployed in Taji, Iraq. He is also survived by daughters Yolanda M. Johnson (Anthony Sr.) of Triangle, VA; and Jacquelyn Decade Parker of Clarksville; sisters Annie Lee Parker of Laurinburg, N.C. and Mary Helen Shaw of North Carolina as well as 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by brothers Thomas McLaughlin and George McLaughlin and a grandson Anthony M. Johnson, Jr. Funeral services with military honors will be conducted on Saturday, October 14th, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at the Liberty Chapel 3111 Bastogne, Ft. Campbell, KY with Pastor Gregory Rhinehart officiating. The family will receive friends for the hour prior to services. Burial in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West will take place at the convenience of the family.
