Shelby Hatcher Draper, age 70, of Clarksville passed away on Sunday January 24, 2016 at Signature Health Care Center in Clarksville. She was born June 4, 1945 in Montgomery County, the daughter of the late Tommy Hatcher and Estelle Shelby. Shelby was employed for over 20 years with Performance Food Group as a purchaser until her health no longer permitted her to work. She had also been employed at Acme Boot Company and at Brenners Furniture. She was a member of the Hermitage United Methodist Church in Mt. Juliet. She was known as a creative person who enjoyed entertaining, making wedding and birthday cakes and as a flower arranger. Survivors include her son Bill Byard Jr. of Clarksville; daughters Lynette "Sissy" Byard Taylor of Clarksville and Tammy Byard Cowan and her husband Scott of Hopkinsville, KY; She is also survived by 3 sisters Janet Clements of Clarksville; Alberta Stone of Clarksville; and Mary Mixon of Clarksville as well as 3 grandchildren, Zach Taylor, Blake Cowan, and Lauren Rae Cowan. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother Tommy Hatcher and a sister Wanda Muzzy. Memorial services will be conducted on Friday January 29, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. from the Chapel of Gateway Funeral Home. There will be a visitation on Thursday from 4-7 P.M. at the funeral home.
