Robert E. Taggart

Robert E. Taggart, age 88, of Clarksville, TN, passed away on Thursday August 26, 2021 at Signature Healthcare in Clarksville.  He was born January 31, 1933 in Rotan, Texas and spent much of his early years in San Diego, CA.  Bob served his country in the U.S. Army for 23 years, retiring as a First Sergeant.  He served for four tours of duty in Vietnam and received numerous citations and recognitions.  Following his time in the military he earned a BS degree at Austin Peay State University in business and marketing.  He worked for many years with New Era, Larry’s Nursery and Kroger on Madison Street before retirement.  He is preceded in death by his wife Maria Gomez Taggart.  He is survived by a grandson Patrick Jackson of Clarksville, TN.  Following cremation, Bob will be laid to rest with military honors at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Clarksville.  Arrangements are under the care of Gateway Funeral Home and Cremation Center  335 Franklin Street  Clarksville, TN  37040.  Phone 931-919-2600.  Online condolences may be made by going to www.gatewayfh.com.
