Robert Wayne von Hawker

Robert Wayne von Hawker age 76 of Clarksville, passed away on Saturday February 13, 2016 at Gateway Medical Center. He was born July 6, 1939 in Macon, GA the son of the late Earl Hawker and Pauline Losey Hawker. He served his country for 20 years as a member of the US Army. He retired in 1989 as an E6. During his military career he served 2 tours of duty in Vietnam. He was an operating room specialist and a physical activity sergeant. He also received the bronze star. Wayne is survived by his wife Brenda Schultz-von Hawker of Clarksville; a daughter Robyn Primus of Vincennes, IN and 4 grandchildren Josh, Noah, Sam, and Jacob Primus. In addition to his parents, Wayne is preceded in death by his sons, Robert William von Hawker and Ronald Wayne von Hawker and his twin brother Bill Hawker. Wayne came to Clarksville to live in 2008 and is a member of the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church. He is also a life member of the VFW and the DAV. Throughout his life he enjoyed boating and bodybuilding and weightlifting. At one time he was in the Guiness Book of World Records in the weightlifting records. Funeral services with military honors will be conducted on Saturday February 20, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church. Pastor Kent Holz will officiate. There will be a time of visitation on Friday from 4-8 P.M. at Gateway Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church Preschool.
