Robert L. Crabtree, 88, born in Decatur, IL received his end of life wishes; to die peacefully in his sleep, to know the care of his wife of 65 years, Kathryn N. Ault Crabtree is in the hands of his six grateful children and to walk and talk with Jesus, his lifelong companion.
Before Mr. Crabtree raised his family in Japan, Minnesota, Colorado and Wyoming; he served in the Marine Corps. He was a missionary in Japan from 1953 to 1960, worked in sales, and served others thereafter. He loved the Lord with all his heart and believed that God was all forgiving and would reconcile all people into an everlasting love and peace. He had a generous heart all the while playing pranks and telling jokes. He was quick to whip up a picnic or play a game. He came from that hearty generation that didn't need a motto for "just do it" he did it, and he did it without reservation.
Missing him will be his children David (Cindi) Crabtree - Craig, CO, Daniel (Kathy) Crabtree - Colo. Springs, CO, Jon Crabtree - Spokane, WA, Ruth Anne (Doug) Myer - Broken Arrow, OK, Rachel (Scott) Wainwright - Clarksville, TN and Rebecca (Anthony) Sparagno - Virginia Beach, VA, 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren a score of nieces and nephews and thousands of friends all over the globe. Mr. Crabtree made Clarksville his home for the last 5 ½ years.
Services will be held on Friday, March 4th at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Gateway Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 p.m. until time of service.
