Phyllis Edens

Phyllis Ann Edens age 77 of Clarksville, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday September 22, 2016 at Alive Hospice in Nashville. She was born June 22, 1939 in Lee County, VA, the daughter of the late James Walter Smith and Geneva Ison Smith. She had retired from the Montgomery County Nursing Home where she had worked over 15 years as an LPN and charge nurse. Phyllis was a devoted military wife and mother and is a member of the Excell Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and had taught Sunday School. She was an avid bowler, a member of the Downtown Artist Club and was known for crocheting blankets for military wives and their newborn babies. Phyllis is survived by her beloved husband Rudy L. Edens Sr. to whom she was married August 12, 1956. She is also survived by her sons Rudy L. Edens Jr & Rosa of Lakewood, CA; Richard E. Edens & Sandy of Tucson, AZ; Michael G. Edens & Lida of Humble, TX; Paul David Edens & Wendy of Wichita Falls, TX. She is also survived by a brother James Harold Smith of Lexington, NC; and 22 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter Delores Yvonne Baez, brothers Charles Smith and Jack Smith and a sister Juanita Jones. Funeral services with Bro. Terrell Marcom, will be conducted on Tuesday September 27, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Excell Baptist Church 328 Excell Road. Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8 P.M. at Gateway Funeral Home and for the hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
