Max Hamby, 1SGT U.S. Army (Ret), of Clarksville, TN and longtime resident of Severn, MD passed away in his sleep on August 8th. He was 74. A Vietnam veteran, U.S. Army Communications Electronics School instructor and VFW member, he retired from the military and joined Satellite Business Systems (SBS) in 1981 to provide engineering services for the launch of the company's fleet of satellites. He went on to work for Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) and later founded Global Consulting Inc./Comp-U-Type, providing satellite engineering services and operating a retail personal computer store. He enjoyed NASCAR, computers, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and telling a good story.
He is survived by his wife, the former Georgene Rosenwald; children Anita Johnson, Max and wife Debbie Hamby, Jim and wife Christine Hamby, Susan and husband Chris Orsini; two sisters, Francis Hamby and Patsy Harris; three brothers, Clarence Hamby, Bobby Hamby, and David Hamby. He was the proud grandfather of Pam Thompson, Christopher Hamby, Josh Johnson, Christopher Iovanna, Austin and Bradley Orsini; and great-grandfather of Kaitlyn and Jacalyn Thompson, Nicole Hamby, Mikah Johnson, Elijah Johnson, and Teal Hamby.
