Matthew S. Emerson

Colonel Matthew Schuch Emerson (Ret) age 82 of Clarksville passed away at his residence on Thursday Sept 29, 2016. He was born April 10, 1934 in Angola, IN the son of the late Douglas and Mary Schuch Emerson. Col. Emerson received his MA degree in Geology from the University of Tennessee. He worked several years as a geologist until returning to further his education at the University of Louisville school of dentistry. He served for 23 years in the Army as an endodontist, retiring in 2003. He then began in private practice in Hopkinsville for 13 years until his health no longer permitted.

He is survived by his wife Julie Briggs Emerson; sons Nicholas A. Emerson & wife Lauren of Clarksville; and Samuel D. Emerson of Clarksville; as well as two grandchildren Graham and Addison. There will be no public funeral services. Online condolences may be made by going to www.gatewayfh.com.
