Martha "Marty" Frost Tompkins, age 71, of Clarksville passed away at Tri Star Skyline Medical Center on August 1, 2018. Mrs. Tompkins was born on January 1, 1947 in Clarksville, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents: Frank V. Frost, Maggie Jewel Black Frost, and Earlene Frost Meade. She was also preceded in death by her husband Colonel (US Army Retired) James Robert Tompkins Sr. and son, Scott D. Tompkins. She is survived by her children: James & Levita R. Tompkins Jr., Mark & Blanca T. Tompkins, and Erika E. Shanks; her brothers: Robert L. Frost and Charles W. Frost; her grandchildren: Katherine and Adrienne Tompkins, Jessica Tompkins and Stuart McLaren, Robbie Tompkins, Julian Tompkins, Brijeet Colby, Brice Colby, Celena and Robert Tripp, Joseph and Elise LaRocque, Robert and Stephanie LaRocque; and great-grandchildren: Ryan, Makayla, Ayden, Landon, Sadie, Joshua, Tina Lynn, Nolan, and Dylan. She will be especially missed by her beloved furry pets: Cooper, Bandit, and Mr. Kitty and her grand puppies: Lucy, Zoe, Bogie, Oliver, and Sophie. Her other fur babies preceded her in death: Mr. Bud, Cricket, Scooter, Choco, Penny, and Brandi. Mrs. Tompkins worked with the Federal Government as an Energy Industry Analyst in the Washington D.C. area and had an extensive career in Real Estate and Mortgage Banking in Virginia, Alabama, and Texas. She loved being a military wife, mother, grandmother, and great-granny. She enjoyed traveling, gem-hunting, gardening, reading, music, and the fellowship of church, family, and special friends. She was a member of Christ our Lord Anglican Church in Woodbridge, Virginia. The family wishes to thank her closest friends: Donna Frost, the Brian Lackey Family, the Donna Hinton Family, the Stacy Francis Family, and the Pranger Family for their support and thoughtfulness over the years. Her remains will be cremated and burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia at a later date. A celebration of Martha's life will be held on Saturday August 11, 2018 from 1 to 3 PM at the home of her son James Tompkins Jr. in Clarksville. There will be family remembrances held at a later date in Michigan as well. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Aseracare Hospice (1539 Suite C. Ashland City Bypass Clarksville, TN. 37040) or to Animal Control; Shelter (Spring Street, Clarksville, TN 37040) in order to foster pets that otherwise may not find forever homes, or St. Jude (charity of choice).
