Margaret Carpenter

Margaret Carpenter, age 94, of Clarksville, TN, passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Tennova Healthcare.  She was born October 2, 1926 in Arkansas City, AR, the daughter of the late Penoia Johnson and Lucy Bryant Johnson.  From the time she learned about Jehovah God, Margaret’s life long goal was to serve Jehovah.  She married Percy Carpenter in 1947 in Chicago and raised their daughters to love Jehovah too.  Margaret loved to talk to all people about God.  She spent over 60 years being a full time Witness for Jehovah and helped many learn about Him.  Besides Chicago, they lived in Alabama, Arkansas, and Tennessee, sharing the Bible message with all they could.  That was her life goal to preach the good news.  She will long be remembered as a faithful Witness of Jehovah.  Along with her parents, Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Percy, sisters Mattie, Vera, Beatrice, Verna, Clarice, and brothers Penoia Jr.  Also step daughter Carmen Jeffery, and son in law Joseph Kurz.  She is survived by daughters Madeline Demetrius (Pete) of Chicago, and Edith Kurz of Clarksville.  Also surviving are grandsons Morris Powell, Kingston Jamaica, Wade Jeffery and Clive Jeffery of London England, Mark Jeffery of Houston, TX, and Nathan Demetrius of Pembroke Pines, FL.  Also granddaughters Cecile White, London England, Lydia Jackson (Denny) of Lebanon, TN, and Phoebe Demetrius of Chicago, IL and many great grand children and nieces and nephews.  There will be an online memorial service on September 11, 2021.  Please contact family for details.  Arrangements are under the care of Gateway Funeral Home and Cremation Center  335 Franklin Street  Clarksville, TN  37040.  Phone 931- 919-2600.  Online condolences may be made by going to www.gatewayfh.com.
