Louis "Sonny" Vodopya Jr., age 79 of Clarksville, passed away on Monday June 27, 2016 at Tennova Healthcare. He was born in Waukeegan, IL on September 20, 1936, the son of the late Louis Vodopya Sr. and Mildred Woodson Vodopya. Sonny served in the Navy during the Korean War. He had been employed at DuPont and as a house painter. He had many varied interests including being a sports enthusiast, a bowling champion, an entrepreneur, a participant in the Senior Olympics, and a member of the Blind Veterans Association. He was an author and writer, writing many songs and poems and he recently had a science fiction book published.
He is survived by a first cousin, Mildred Plummer of Sango; and a first cousin Mike A. Bradberry of Sango, as well as many other first, second and third cousins across the USA.
There will be a visitation time on Tuesday July 5, 2016 from 9 to 11 A.M. at Gateway Funeral Home. Following the visitation, he will be laid to rest at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery.
