Lou Giaffo age 90 of Clarksville, passed away on Tuesday November 13, 2018, peacefully surrounded by his loved ones, at Tennova Healthcare in Clarksville. He was born October 11, 1928 in Boston, MA, the son of the late Kasim I. Giaffo and Ilfan Mufti Giaffo, who were first generation Albanian immigrants. Lou served his country for three years in the US Marine Corps following WW II. During his time in the military he had served in the honor guard for President Truman. Following his time in the service he led an interesting and varied life. He worked with his father in his restaurant and also went to art school in Hartford, CT. He received his bachelor degree in fine arts in New York and worked for several years as a commercial artist in New York. He was also a talented artist in oil paints. He later moved to Clarksville and worked as a civilian at Ft. Campbell. He received his MA degree in education from Austin Peay State University in 1980. He worked and lived in various places including California, New York and San Antonio and eventually returned to Clarksville where he completed his career at Ft. Campbell. He spent much of his retirement writing non fiction books, primarily dealing with history. Lou is survived by his son Jason Lou Giaffo of Nashville; a brother Chufi Giaffo of Gillett, PA; sisters Lule C. West of Clarksville, TN; and Vera Cosgrove of Easton, PA.
