Linda Stewart

Mary Linda Nicholson Stewart was born to William B. Sr. and Mary Evelyn Barton Nicholson on November 20, 1950 in Ashland City, Cheatham County, Tennessee. Preceding her in death is her father William B. Nicholson ,Sr. and Brother William B. Nicholson, Jr. On Friday afternoon April 22, 2016 at TriStar Skyline Medical Center, Nashville, Tennessee, she departed this life peacefully surrounded by her family.

She received her early education from the public schools in Cheatham and Robertson Counties graduating from Bransford High School, Springfield, Tennessee.

Linda attended Tennessee State University, Nashville, Tennessee receiving her Bachelor's Degree in Education. She received her Master's degree from Austin Peay State University, Clarksville, Tennessee.

Linda was employed with the Nashville Metropolitan Public School System, as a mathematics teacher for thirty-nine years.

Linda accepted Christ at a young age, and united with Payne Chapel United Methodist Church where she served faithfully as church pianist, church clerk and anywhere she was needed.

Linda was united in Holy Matrimony with Garrett Eugene Stewart on June 16, 1979. To this union one son was born-Nicholas Arnett Stewart.

She will be remembered by her family as a loving and devoted wife, mother and a doting grandmother who adored her granddaughter very much. Linda leaves to cherish her precious loving husband, Garrett (Bubba) Stewart, son Nicholas Arnett Stewart; Mother, Mary Evelyn Nicholson; Mother- in – Law, Marie Stewart; Aunts, Betty Bagwell, Mable Nicholson, Frances Payne and Eva Nell Nicholson; Sister-in-Law, Dorothy Nicholson, granddaughter Ataly Stewart; along with one niece, two great niece's, one nephew, one great nephew, many cousins, and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 29th at 11:00 a.m. at the Payne Chapel United Methodist Church in Joelton, TN. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Clarksville, TN. Vistitation with the family will begin on Thursday, April 28th from 4:00 p.m. until 7: 00 p.m. at Gateway Funeral Home.
