Major John Byron Reeves (Ret.) age 76, of Clarksville, passed away on Saturday November 19, 2016 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He was born October 9, 1940 in Cook County, IL, the son of the late Edward O. Reeves and Joan Lipka Reeves.
John proudly served his country for 20 years in the U.S. Army, retiring in 1981 with the rank of Major. He saw action in Vietnam. Following his time in the military he was employed with the U.S. Office of Personnel Management as a background investigator until his retirement in 2002. He is a lifetime member of the VFW.
John is survived by his wife Pamela Barnette Reeves to whom he married in 1971. He is also survived by sons James David Reeves & Leslie of Nashville; Kristopher Byron Reeves of Clarksville; a daughter Katherine Mary Matties & Sean of Clarksville; sisters Mary Perry of Louisville; and Barbara Proffitt of Fair Hope, AL; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son John E. Reeves. There will be no public funeral services and Major Reeves cremated remains will be placed at Arlington National Cemetery.
