John Gregory Osborne

John Gregory Osborne, age 76, of Russellville, Ky passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2024. He was born on May 10, 1948 in Milwaukee, Wi, to the late Clyde Osborne and Sylvia Osborne.

For many years, John dedicated himself to the noble profession of teaching, serving as a professor who inspired countless individuals to pursue their passions and strive for excellence. His journey in education began with a football scholarship to Tennessee Tech, where he demonstrated his remarkable talent both on the field and in the classroom. With hard work and determination, he earned his Ph.D. from University of Kentucky, solidifying his standing as a respected figure in academia.

John's passion for sports was evident from a young age, and he often found pride in being named the MVP of the Clarksville High School Football Team in 1966. This accolade was a testament to his hard work, discipline, and dedication, qualities that he carried throughout his life.

John had a simple yet profound joy in life he loved to eat Oreos. This small pleasure brought him happiness, and he often shared it with those around him, bringing smiles to their faces. His jovial spirit and warmth left an imprint in the hearts of all who knew him.

He leaves behind a loving family who will carry his memory with deep affection. He is survived by his brother, Gary (Patricia) Osborne, devoted nieces and nephews; Jeannie (James) Bowman, Stacy Osborne, Kelly Osborne, Scott Osborne, Cody (Linda) Osborne. Additionally, his great nieces and nephews—David Bowman, Matthew (Sarah) Bowman, Caleb Bowman, Brayden Osborne, Baylor Osborne, Ryleigh (Josh)  Dawson, Addyson Osborne, Bryson Travis, Kylee Travis.

John is preceded in death by his beloved parents and his brother, Quentin Osborne.

A funeral service will be held at Gateway Funeral Home on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. with visitation at 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Burial will follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery in Clarksville, TN.
