John Stevens Lucas, CPO, US Navy Retired, age 91, of Clarksville, died April 4th, 2016 at Grace Healthcare after an extended illness. His family is grateful for the wonderful care Tennova Hospice gave during this time.
He was born October 7, 1924 in Lancaster County, South Carolina to the late James Frank and Maggie Eubanks Lucas. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Daniel Lucas; brothers, James B., George E., and Franklin Lucas; sisters Geneva Carnes and Willie Maude Lucas.
Mr. Lucas is survived by his wife, Pauline Tue Lucas, of Clarksville; a daughter, Jenny Lucas Martindale (Richard) of Clarksville; stepson, Wayne E Tue (Nancy) of Clarksville; three grandsons, James and Kyle Martindale, Chandler Tue; sisters Lucille Adams, Betty Jean Harper, and Sara Neeley, all of Lancaster, SC.
Mr. Lucas was a Veteran, serving in WWII and Korea. He retired from the City of Clarksville, Building and Codes Department. He was a member of Forest Street United Methodist Church and a long-time member of American Legion Post 233 and Fleet Reserve Branch 110. Mr. Lucas was a Life Member of VFW Post 4895.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 9th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Gateway Funeral home with the Very Reverend Richard Martindale officiating. Burial will be at Fort Donelson National Cemetery in Dover, TN. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, April 8th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
