James Frederick Lucas age 81 of Clarksville, passed away on Tuesday March 12, 2019 at Tennova Healthcare in Clarksville. He was born in Ontario, Canada on June 27, 1937, the son of the late James Frederick Lucas and Dorothy May Stocker Lucas. James served his country in the US Army for 20 years until his retirement as a Sgt First Class. He served in the 101st Airborne Division. Following his time in the military, James completed his degree in computer science. He worked in various fields and excelled in all of them. He was a systems analyst with the state of Tennessee, a carpenter and electrician, drove a school bus, and also worked for the US Postal Services. He was active in the Williams Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. He served on the mission board and had been president as well as being on the usher board. He was known in the church as the person who could be depended on to fix and repair things in the church as well as for many members and friends. He is survived by his wife Cheray A. Love-Lucas of Clarksville; a daughter Mae H. Chamberlain (Peter) of Clarksville; a brother Albert Edward Lucas of Ontario, Canada; and a sister Dorothy June Lucas of London, Ontario. A Memorial Service to honor James life will be conducted on Friday March 22, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at the chapel of Gateway Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors will follow at the Kentucky Veteran Cemetery, West in Hopkinsville. There will be a time of visitation on Thursday March 21, 2019 from 4-7 P.M. at the funeral home.
