James Burnley Kimsey, age 69 passed away on Monday, February 1st, 2016 at his residence in Clarksville, TN. He was born in Hartsville, TN on October 30th, 1946 to the late James and Dorothy Hall Kimsey. He graduated from Clarksville High School in 1964 and was an Austin Peay graduate with a B.S. degree; where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He served his country in the U. S. from 1966 through 1969 and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was a business man for many years dealing with office equipment and business machines and later became a teacher at Miller Motte Technical College teaching computer skills. He also was a bus driver for the Montgomery County school system. He was a member of the Madison Street United Methodist Church and loved golf and working on BMW cars. He was a talented woodworker and craftsman and enjoyed watching his children's sports activities.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Daniel Kimsey of Clarksville, TN; one son, Eric Kimsey (Courtney) of Clarksville; and one daughter, Caryn Givens (Andrew) of Franklin, TN. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Kimsey Drew, Morgan Bailey, and Witten Harrison Givens, and Annabelle Leigh and Mattie Kate Kimsey.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday, February 6th at 2:30 p.m. at the Madison Street United Methodist Church Chapel with a reception following at the family home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society or to a charity benefiting veterans.
