Isabel Gonzalez

Isabel “Izzy” Gonzalez, age 86 of Clarksville, TN passed away peacefully with her family at her residence on Monday, May 10, 2021.  Isabel was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on November 12, 1934 to the late Emilio and Felicita Gonzalez. While Isabel resided in Puerto Rico she was an elementary school teacher for 10 years. In 1965 she moved to Tennessee. While she was learning English she worked for the Fort Campbell school system. Once she mastered the English language she began working at the PX (Army & Air Force Exchange) until retirement. Isabel loved life and laughing. She was the life of the party. She loved dancing and listening to music. She was a member at the St. Michael Catholic Church in Oak Grove, KY where she served as a Silver Angel Leader until passing her wings onto the next.

Left to cherish her memories is her sister, who she raised like a daughter, Carmen Gonzalez (Luis) of Clarksville, TN, and Esther Santiago of Clarksville, TN; brother, Eliseo Gonzalez (Emma) of Ponce, PR; and 25 nieces and nephews. Isabel is also survived by multiple great nieces and great nephews.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by sister, Carmen Elsa Gonzalez and brothers, David Gonzalez, Ruben Gonzalez and Jose Gonzalez. Isabel is also preceded in death by brother-in-law, Carlos Santiago.

Visitation at the St. Michael Catholic Church,  448 State Line Road, Oak Grove, KY 42262; will begin at 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 A.M. with Father Julian Ibemere officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Clarksville, TN.

In lieu of flowers the family request that those who want to donate to donate to the Church or to Isabel’s favorite organization the St. Judes Childrens Hospital.
