Harvey LeRoy Haxton age 79 of Clarksville, passed away on Saturday July 21, 2018 at Ahava Healthcare in Clarksville. He was born May 10, 1939 in Milford, IL the son of the late LeRoy Haxton and Lillian Kincade Haxton Buhrmester. Harvey served his country in the U.S. Army for 6 years during Vietnam. He was awarded several citations including the Bronze Star. During his time in the military he attained the rank of First Lieutenant. He worked during his lifetime in the car business. He had worked in sales at Gary Mathews and Wyatt Johnson as well as being the owner and operator of Eagle Motors and Two Rivers Motors. He retired in 2008. Harvey was also the co owner of Skyline Bowling Lanes for several years and was a member of the Clarksville Bowling Association. He is survived by his wife Portia Meriweather Haxton of Clarksville; sons Steve Haxton of Elkorn WI; and David Haxton of Murfreesboro, TN; and daughters Sherry Haxton of Kentucky; Debbie Johnson of Milford, IL; Dawn Muellen of Milford, IL; Amy Lawrence of Clarksville; and Michelle Leibold of Clarksville. Also surviving are brothers Orville Haxton of Cissna Park, IL and Jim Buhrmester of Milford, IL; sisters Judy England of Cissna Park, IL and Glenda Evans of Lexington, KY. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Harvey is preceded in death by a sister Peggy Brammar. In keeping with Harvey's wishes, there will be no local funeral services. He will be buried in Illinois at a later date.
