Gladys Dale Melton Cooley, age 93, of Clarksville, died March 13, 2018 at Walking Horse Meadows with her loving family by her side. She was born in Montgomery County to the late Howard Melton & Letha Suiter Melton, on October 2nd, 1924. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Annie Louise (Davis), Herbert, Frances Bonnie, and Carl E. Melton. And her first husband Rex Heflin and the late SFC James L. Cooley, US Army. She is survived by her marriage to Rex Heflin, daughter, Bonnie Carole Yarbrough (Dennis Rice) Clarksville, TN; son, Wayne (Carol) Heflin of Dickson, TN; son, Mike Heflin of Clarksville; son, Tommy (Brenda) Heflin of Hermitage, TN; son, David Heflin of Clarksville, TN; Eight (8) grandchildren, Terry & Veleka Yarbrough, Shannon Heflin, Shonda (Heflin)Stivers, Caleb Slaughter, Bronson Heflin, Christopher Heflin, Kathrynn Heflin; Thirteen (13) great grandchildren, Lauren, Corbin, Farrin, Olivia, Carter, Sydney, Christian, Katelyn, Caden, Keegan, McKinna, Kinzie, Jaxton; nephews, nieces and other family members. She was a lifelong member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and taught her Adult Bible School Class. She was one of the longest living members of the church. She received her GED Degree in 1970 and went on to graduate from Austin Peay State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1976. She worked as an Adult Probation Officer III for the State of Tennessee in the Department of Corrections in Clarksville, TN for 15 years and retired in 1995. In 1992 she won the Ms. Senior Citizen Clarksville Beauty Contest. Funeral Services will be held on Friday March 16, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Gateway Funeral Home, Clarksville, TN with Pastor James Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday March 15, 2018 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on March 16, 2018 from 10:00 AM until time of service. Pallbearers: Terry Yarbrough, Shannon Heflin, Caleb Slaughter, Bronson Heflin, Chris Heflin and Mark Melton.
