Gerald Ronald Smith, age 79, of Clarksville, TN, passed away on Saturday August 14, 2021 at the Nashville Veteran Administration Hospital. He was born April 14, 1942 in Linsey, Ohio, the son of the late Wayne Charles Smith and Marian Woodrick Smith. Gerald served his country in the US Army for three years, serving in Korea. Throughout his working life he worked as a custodian and painter. He worked for several years at Cracker Barrel Restaurants in Perrysville and Lima, Ohio and at the Blue Lick Bible Church for several years. He is a member of the Cross and Crown Baptist Church in Clarksville. He is devoted to his family, especially his grandchildren. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Charlotte J. Ford Smith of Clarksville and his daughters Christina Jacobs (Don) of Cadiz, OH; Sherri Willis (Joe) of Adams, TN; and Mary Christian (Eric) of Stevensville, MI. He is also survived by a sister Sue Krumnaw (Denny) of Fremont, OH as well as nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services with military honors will be conducted on Wednesday August 18, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at Kentucky Veteran Cemetery, West with Pastor Craig Caldwell officiating. There will be a time of visitation with the family on Tuesday August 17, 2021 from 7 to 8 P.M. at Gateway Funeral Home.
