Gerald C. "Jerry" Custer

SFC Retired Gerald (Jerry) C. Custer Sr., 82, of Clarksville, TN, entered into eternal peace November 23, 2016 surrounded by his family at Tennova Hospital. He was born March 10, 1934, Tulls Hill, Napier Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.

Gerald enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1952 during which he went to Japan, Korea (twice), Cu Chi Vietnam, Germany and was stationed at several bases stateside finally retiring after 21 years of service at Fort Campbell, KY. He was a Bronze Star Recipient.

He is survived by his wife Angeline (Pomeroy) Custer of 32 years; a sister Donna (Larry) McElwain of Glasgow, KY; a son Gerald Custer Jr. of Topeka KS; three daughters: Jackie Custer of Chatham, VA; Phyllis (Lawrence) Osgood of Cedar Point, KS and Cherie (Randy) Schimittou of Cunningham, TN.; two step-sons: Anthony (Helen) Foster of Pensacola, FL, Jerry (Lori) Ashley of Norwood, NY; two step-daughters: Rebecca Henderson of Bonita Springs, FL and Janie Russell of Clarksville, TN. 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Tom and Nellie Custer, first wife Carol Custer; three brothers: Nelson, Melvin and Donald Custer and two sisters Betty Jobrack and Dorothy Dotson; step-daughter Terry Lynn Howell, step-grand-daughter Amber Ashley; step-grandson Travis Henderson and step-great grandsons Zane Peck and Dante Ashley.

At Gerald's request there will be no services. Donations/Memorials may be made in Gerald's name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
