George Earl Roark, age 82, passed away on September 9th, 2015. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 14th, at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Gateway Funeral Home with Reverend Larry Riley officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Sunday, September 13th from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and on Monday from 12:00 until time of service.
Earl was born on July 20th, 1933 in Lincoln, MO to George W. Roark and Effie Mae (Larimore) Roark. He was with blessed with two brothers, Ralph Eugene and Cleatith Lee, and a sister, Blanche May.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 61 years, Beverly, two brothers, Ralph and Cleatith Roark, both of Lincoln, MO. He is survived by his sister, Blanche Ferguson of Warsaw, MO.
Earl attended Lincoln Public School, graduating in 1951. He and his high school sweetheart, Beverly Williams Roark were married January 19, 1952 and celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in 2013. To this union, three children were born; David Earl Roark, Teresa Lynn Roark Chadwick, and Richard Scott Roark, all who currently reside in Clarksville, TN.
Following a two year commitment in the military, Earl earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1961, and spent 32 years before retirement in 1995 with the Trane Company working first in Lacrosse, WI, then Clarksville, TN, and lastly Charlotte, NC.
After locating in Clarksville in 1973, Earl joined First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and taught an adult Sunday school class until moving to Charlotte, NC in 1983. Upon retirement, Earl and Beverly moved back to Clarksville and resumed worship with fellow Christians at First Baptist, again serving as deacon and leading a Bible study for senior adults.
He is survived by three children, David Earl Roark, Teresa Lynn Chadwick (Randy), Richard Scott Roark (Sabrina); six grandchildren, Matthew Roark, James Linkous, Jennifer Linkous Smith (Randy), Andrew, Anthony and Amanda Roark; two great-grandchildren, Kennedy Roark and Connor Liam Vaughn. Granddaughter Sarah Elizabeth Linkous passed away as an infant.
