George Edward Dooley

George Edward Dooley age 77 of Adams, TN, passed away on Thursday July 19, 2018 in Clarksville, TN. He was born January 10, 1941 in Chicago, IL. George proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for 23 years. He served two tours in Vietnam in the Special Forces. He was a paratrooper. He received numerous citations including the Bronze Star. He was selected for the Command and General Staff College. Following his time in the military, George was employed as an accountant and business manager for several Chicago area businesses including the St. John's Military Academy in Wisconsin and the business manager with the Norris Student Center at Northwestern University. George had received his BA degree from Columbus College and his MA degree from Webster University. He is a member of the Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his wife Nina B. Smith of Adams, TN; a daughter Linda Dooley of Clarksville, TN and a son Charles Dooley of Schaumburg, IL; a brother Don Dooley of Indiana and a sister Margaret Hawkins of Indiana. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday July 23, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Gateway Funeral Home with Pastor Jeffrey Lott of the Christ Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-6 P.M. at the funeral home. George will be laid to rest with military honors at Arlington National Cemetery.
