George Gary Bonagura

George Gary Bonagura, age 84, of Clarksville, TN passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 10, 1938, in Cliffside Park, NJ to the late George L. and Genevieve Schuette Bonagura. 

George proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, Merchant Marines, and Army. He was passionate about a variety of hobbies, including repairing and remodeling boats, cooking Italian foods, and traveling all over the world. George was a Master Ship’s Captain and a certified diver who dove with celebrated diver Mel Fisher. Affectionately known as "Captain George" around town, George was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Clarksville, TN. One of his favorite scriptures was 1 Peter 5:7 “Cast all your worries on Him, because he cares for you.”

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 33 years, Paula Bonagura; children, Mark (Ann) Bonagura, Gina Boswell, Larry (Alice) Bonagura, Lisa (Nicky) Britt, and Pam (John) O'Day; grandchildren, Nicole Bonagura, Adam Bonagura, Shanna Boswell, Tonya Boswell, Eddie Boswell, Lucas Cribb, Hunter Cribb, Joey Bonagura, Steffen Bonagura, Hannah Bonagura, Breanne Alday, and Grace Knight, and 6 great-grandchildren. 

Honoring George’s wishes, a burial at sea is planned for February 12, 2023.
