Floyd Edward Mullins III was born March 14, 1969 at Fort Bragg, NC, the son of the late Floyd Edward Mullins Jr. and Carrie Mae Meares Mullins. He attended Merrimack Elementary School and Spratley Junior High where he then grew an interest in jazz music. Floyd took on the saxophone at Pheoba High School class of 1987, traveling all over the world and being rewarded top 10 ranking saxophone player in the country.
Floyd met his wife, Tanya Wilson Mullins in 1989 while attending Norfolk State University, majoring in music. They then married and through their union of marriage had 6 beautiful children.
Floyd served his country in the US Army for 7 years. During his time in the Army, he was an aviation mechanic and he worked on the Chinook helicopters as well as being in charge of the arms room and supply room. Following his time in the service, he worked in the Information Technology for the Department of Defense. He was also an instructor at Daymar in Information Technology. Throughout his career, he earned many certifications in computers. Deacon Floyd Edward Mullins III served faithfully as a member of Diamond Ministries under the leadership of Pastors Willie & Robin Little. He was ordained Deacon March 15, 2020 and served with The Brotherhood, Media Team, taught computer classes, served with hospitality, the Financial Team, as well as with the Outreach Team distributing food to those in need. Deacon Mullins served doing whatever His hands could find to do. He was devoted to his children and family and was a good friend, husband and father. He enjoyed helping others with their computer problems and in his spare time he enjoyed comic books and was proficient in martial arts. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Tanya Wilson Mullins of Clarksville, TN; sons, Floyd Edward Mullins IV of Clarksville, TN, Saigh M’Li Mullins of Clarksville, TN, and Bryant Emmery Dore Mullins of Clarksville, TN; daughters, Tanisha Emil Hogan (Stephon Sr.) of Denvor, CO, Etenia Dawn-Sari Mullins of Clarksville, TN and Carione Malayia Ann Mullins of Clarksville, TN; his beloved sister, Daphne Mullins of Newport News, VA. Floyd was blessed with 4 grandchildren, AJ Hogan, Novalee Hogan, Kiara Hogan and Sha’niyah Mullins. He is also survived by many nieces including Monika Barnes (William) of Newport News, VA, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. Floyd will be missed by his best friends, Leo Jordan and Tom Peticolas.
Floyd Edward Mullins III, age 51, walked on with Jesus January 30, 2021 to join his parents and nephew, Damien Mullins. Memorial services will be conducted on Sunday February 14, 2021 at 12:00 P.M. at Diamond Ministries located at 1481 Golf Club Lane, Clarksville, TN.
