Florence P. Megna, age 100, of Clarksville, died Wednesday, January 20, 2021. She will be interred at the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery. No service is planned.
Florence, a daughter of William and Sarah Bertha George, was born in Tiffin, Ohio, on Oct. 1, 1920. Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, she answered her country’s call for the civilian war effort by sewing parachutes for the U.S. military at the Briggs Manufacturing Plant in Detroit.
After attending the Mansfield (Ohio) Business Training School, she became an office manager at a medical arts practice for three physicians.
She and her husband, Tony J. Megna, moved from Ohio to Clarksville in 1991 to be closer to family. They were married for 57 years, and Tony preceded her in death in 2015.
Surviving is a daughter, Alane S. Megna of Clarksville. Also surviving are a sister, Beverly Riggin, and a brother, Glen George, and nieces and nephews.
