The Man - The Myth - The Legend (not necessarily in that order!)
Jerry was retired after working for years on the river as a deckhand, Tankerman, Engineer, and Merchant Marine.
He laughed often, lived well and told tall tales better than anyone. Jerry would want to be remembered as a man that adored his family and his family of friends. He loved cars, beer, firearms, hunting, fishing, Nascar, football, fast Harleys and even faster women. He also appreciated great food and waitresses everywhere are weeping at their loss.
He loved all animals, often known to rescue kittens and puppies. He never met a snake or turtle that he didn't like or try to capture. Though, like Garfield, he hated spiders.
In his younger years, Jerry rode a vintage Panhead Harley sporting a long ponytail in a white T-shirt, jeans, boots and a leather Harley cap from which he would drink beer much to the disgust of his friends.
He was the best big' brother God ever created and if you look up friend' in the dictionary, you'll surely find his name. He never let a day pass without letting friends and family know how much he loved them. His life-long friend, Kenny Futrell, got a head start on their last great camping trip in the sky. This gave Jerry just enough time to show up after Kenny did all the work. "Gobla" old friend.
A Memorial of Jerry's life will be announced at a later time. Everyone who remembers Jerry is asked to celebrate his life in their own way. Or, raise a mug of beer or shot of whiskey and make a toast to enduring friendships, lifelong and beyond.
Instead of flowers, Jerry would hope that you will do an unexpected act of kindness for someone in his name.
Jerry would remind his friends and family, "Don't cry because I'm gone; instead, be happy I was here. Well, okay, you can cry a little. After all, I told y'all I was sick."
