Donald Edwin Batterson age 86 of Clarksville, passed away at his residence on Thursday May 18, 2017. He was born November 4, 1930 in Rochester, NY, the son of the late George and Jane Batterson.
Donald served his country in the U.S. Marines for two years and served six years in the reserves. He served in Korea and received the Korean War Service Medal. He was the owner and operator of Batterson Moving and Storage in Rochester for many years. He later moved to Erin, TN in 1988 and Clarksville in 2002. He was employed with United Van Lines and was a truck driver in his later years. Donald is a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church. He is also a member of the Sons of the Revolution, Friends of the Library, the Historical Society and he was privileged to have taken part in the Honor Flight.
Donald is survived by his wife of 50 years Martiea Drum Batterson; a son David Batterson (Virginia) of Lafayette, NY; step daughters Susan Kyhos (Brian) of Annapolis, MD; Beverly Hettig of Penfield, NY; and Joanne Boyd of Canandaigua, NY; a brother Robert Batterson of Ft. Worth, TX; and a sister Carol Kalb of Albuquerque, NM. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; three nieces and one nephew. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by son Donald Batterson; daughter Cheryl Hetrick; brother Kenneth. Memorial services will be conducted on Saturday, June 3rd, at 3:30 P.M. at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Clarksville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Trinity EpiscopalChurch.
