Danny (Dan) E. Ellis left this world surrounded by his family to begin his eternal life on May 14th, 2015. He was born the youngest of eight brothers and sisters on November 14th, 1931, to Alonzo and Bessie Ellis. He spent his life fiercely loving his family and friends and serving his country and community.
Dan, a member of Abundant Life Baptist Church in Lee's Summit, graduated from Center High School, served in the army during the Korean War, worked at Bendix/Honeywell for 43 years before retiring in 1991; coached little league baseball and basketball, was an avid numismatist, and served on the Ruskin Homes Association Board.
Dan leaves behind his wife and sweetheart of 57 years, Barbara; two children, Sandy (Bob) Simpson and Randy (Jennifer) Ellis; two sisters, Betty Clark and Kathryn Hacker; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, daughter Cheryl, and five brothers and sisters.
A celebration of Dan's life will be held on Tuesday, May 19th, at 9:30 a.m. at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Road, Kansas City, MO. Phone (816) 523-1234. A visitation with the family will be from 8;30 a.m. until time of service. Interment with military honors will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Kansas City, MO.
