Clyde Oliver Vaughn

Clyde Oliver Vaughn , age 87 of Clarksville went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 14, 2015 at his residence. He was born March 31, 1928 in Sandy Ridge, PA, the son of the late William McKinley Vaughn and Elsie Pearl Shock Vaughn.

Clyde served in the U.S. Army for three years and was stationed in Japan. Upon leaving active duty he served 17 years in the Army reserve. While living in Tyrone, PA he worked over 20 years with the Ray Burial Vault Company. He came to Clarksville in 1992 and worked as a utility person at Kroger for about ten years. Clyde is a member of Northeast Southern Baptist Church and is a life member of the American Legion and the VFW.

Survivors include two sons, Clarence M. Vaughn and wife Son Ae of Clarksville, Steven C. Vaughn and wife Kaye of Tyrone, PA; and a daughter Lisa Mae Kirk and husband Jesse of Altoona, PA. He is also survived by a sister Elsie Horner of Bradenton, FL and nine grandchildren; Nicole Thompson, Andrew Vaughn, Jessica Vaughn, William Vaughn, Jacob Baird, Stacey Springer, Steven Michael Vaughn, Steven Vaughn Jr., and Eric Vaughn. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren including Arianna Vaughn, Lucas Vaughn, and Hailee Thompson. Clyde was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday August 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Gateway Funeral Home with Pastor Melvin Felts officiating. Entombment with military honors will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday August 17, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
