Erin, Tn

Tech Sergeant Billy Fred Reeves, Sr. a decorated Air Force veteran and beloved patriarch, passed away September 7, 2024, at the age of 82.  He leaves behind a legacy of courage, dedication, and love.

Born on May 16, 1942, in Minglewood, Tennessee, to Arthur and Emmie Reeves, Billy grew up with a profound sense of duty and loyalty. In 1961, he joined the United States Air Force where he served faithfully for twelve years. During his time in the Air Force, he served three tours in Vietnam where he earned numerous commendations, including the Purple Heart award for the injuries he sustained during his service.

Billy’s greatest achievement, however, was his role as a father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his three beloved sons Billy (and his wife Lori), David (and his wife Patricia), and Joe (and his wife Gloria). Billy’s legacy continues through his nineteen grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren.

Billy is also survived by his cherished wife of 20 years, Brenda, who was his steadfast partner through the last years of his life along with his siblings, Rayburn Reeves, June Malone, Peggy Reeves, Ilene Trosper, Judy Reeves, and Tracy Reeves.

Billy is joined in Heaven by his parents, his daughter Tammy Silk, and his brother, Terry Reeves.

Billy’s wisdom and unwavering support were felt by everyone who knew him. He was known for his storytelling, often sharing anecdotes from his time in the service, and his unparalleled ability to make everyone around him feel loved and valued.

Billy’s remarkable life was a testament to his commitment to service, family, and country. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

We are gathering here, not in sorrow, but in gratitude for the beautiful life of Billy. At 2:00 PM, Saturday 14, 2024, at 1315 Upper Finley Road, Dyersburg, Tennessee, we will come together as family, friends and community to remember, honor and celebrate the legacy Billy has left behind.

Final arrangements are entrusted to Gateway Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 335 Franklin St. Clarksville, TN 37040; phone: 931-919-2600. Online condolences may be made by visiting gatewayfh.com.
