Billy Arthur Clardy, age 67, of Guthrie, KY passed away on October 19, 2020, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 29, 1953, in Elkton, KY to the late Russell Clardy, Sr. and Mattie Sue Leavell Clardy. Billy attended Todd Co. Central High School. Succeeding high school, Billy went on to work for K.T. Harvestore where he worked as a Supervisor for 12 years and then Electrolux for 33 years. Billy attended Macedonia Baptist Church in Guthrie, KY where he served as a Sr. Deacon on the Deacon Board, sang in the male chorus, and was a Trustee and Treasurer. He enjoyed attending church and especially loved his church family. He was also a member of the No Name Brotherhood Community Choir and enjoyed fellowshipping with the other members. In his spare time, Billy loved to be outdoors while fishing and hunting. Also, Billy loved to vacation to TX during the holiday season. His family emphasizes how much of a loving and caring person he was. Most importantly, his wife expresses how much of an amazing husband, father, and provider he was to his family that he cherished dearly.
Billy's memory will forever be cherished by his loving wife, Melba Clardy; his children, Arthur Carner Clardy of Nashville, TN, Anita Clardy of Nashville, TN, Billy Monte Clardy of Clarksville, TN, Diane Darden of Arlington, TX, Lee Hoosier of Arlington, TX, Scharn Hoosier of Clarksville, TN and Celia Hoosier of Arlington, TX; 23 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Bessie E. Cross of Trenton, KY, Faye L. Clardy of Detroit, MI, Russell Clardy, Jr. of Guthrie, KY, Carolyn S. Fort (Rev. Fred) of Clarksville, TN, Dorothy M. Green (Tyrone) of Guthrie, KY, Gayle M. Clardy of Clarksville, TN, Leslie A. Clardy of Hopkinsville, KY, Anthony Wilson of Hopkinsville, KY, Terrance A. Wilson of Hopkinsville, KY, and Anson Wilson of Hopkinsville, KY; 2 aunts, Bessie L. Carpenter and Mollie Johnson. In addition to his parents, Billy is preceded in death by his sister, Joanne Sadler.
A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, October 24, 2020, at Gateway Funeral Home at 1:00 P.M. with visitation beginning at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Kenneth Day will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery located at 7905 Penchem Rd., Guthrie, KY 42234.
