Betty Lou Puckett

Betty Lou Puckett, age 96, of Clarksville, TN, passed away on Monday December 13, 2021 at her residence.  She was born to Anna Ritz and John Wood on March 27, 1925 in Martin’s Ferry, Ohio.  At age 14, Betty lost her father to sudden heart failure so she looked to her mother Anna and brothers for guidance.  During WW II Betty worked in a factory making supplies for the troops.  She is survived by her sons Ernie Hockenberry of Ohio, and Robert L. Puckett of Tennessee and daughters Marty Roberts of Ohio and Clancy Williams of Ohio.  She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband George Hockenberry and her second husband, a WW II veteran, Robert P. Puckett.  She is also preceded in death by sons Ronald Wood and George Hockenberry, as well as brothers Carl Wood, Robert “Bob” Wood and Donald “Chickie” Wood, who died at Normandy during WW II.  Betty is a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.  She loved her family and was a loving and caring person to all.  Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday December 30, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Gateway Funeral Home with Pastor Roy Lawinsky officiating.  Visitation will be for the hour prior to services.  Memorial contributions may be made to assist the family with funeral expenses.  Arrangements are under the care of Gateway Funeral Home and Cremation Center  335 Franklin Street  Clarksville, TN  37040.  Phone 931-919-2600.  Online condolences may be made by going to www.gatewayfh.com.
