Bettie Raye Martie

Bettie Raye Martie, age 52, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday October 2, 2019 at the emergency room of Tennova Healthcare in Clarksville. She was born on March 15, 1967 in Pahokee, FL; the daughter of the late Curtis Ray Short and Myrtle Aileen Fultz Short. Bettie earned a degree as a pharmacy tech in 2010 but her health did not permit her to work. She is a member of the Ladies Auxillary of the VFW. She loved the outdoors and gardening and was known as a strong, independent woman. She is survived by her husband, Dale Lee Martie of Clarksville; three sons, Jason Short of Nashville, Bruce Dorsett of Manchester, TN, and Bryan Dorsett of Clarksville; as well as two daughters, Julie Dorsett of Clarksville, and Abbigail Dorsett of Clarksville. She was blessed with six grandchildren; Jalyn, A'Zaden, Ja'Shua, Azani, Dayanna, and Wyatt. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday October 8, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at the chapel of Gateway Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Monday, from 5 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
