Barbara Ellen Douglas, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, March 4th, 2015 at Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville. She was born in Jacksonville, IL on January 21st, 1939 to the late James and Anita Douglas. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy House; two brothers, Craig and James Robert Douglas; and a sister, Judy Carlson.

Barb was a graduate of Rock Island High School and Illinois-Weslyan University. She later received her doctorate in education. She was a beloved teacher, and retired employee by the U.S. Navy, who then worked with the American Red Cross. She was a compassionate animal lover, enjoyed history, antiques, jewelry, and artwork.

She is survived by her daughter, Leslie Huff of Elkton, KY; sister Joan DeSchepper of Moline, IL; grandchildren Amanda Huff of Hopkinsville, KY; Rex Huff of Elkton, KY; Diamond Williams who is in the United States Air Force; Luke Huff of Elkton, KY; and Ryan Rushton of Clarksville. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held in Monmouth, IL at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to The Mayo Clinic, Bone Marrow Research Program, 200 First St. SW, Rochester, MN 55905 or online athttps://philanthropy.mayoclinic.org.
