Arthur Burkes

Mr. Arthur Burkes age 84 of Clarksville, TN passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at his home in Clarksville. He was born February 10th, 1932 in Laurel, MS, born the late Ellis and Effie Burkes.Arthur was a veteran and a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy C. Burkes of Clarksville; sons, Theodore Burkes of Indianapolis, IN, Stanley Burkes of Union, MS, and Jeffrey Burkes of Clarksville, TN; daughters, Catherine Spears of Philadelphia, MS and Elizabeth Watness of Myrtle Beach, SC; brother, Ernest Burkes of Clarksville, TN; sisters E Luenett Bambush of California and Mary Bernard of Indianpolis, IN. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, David Burkes; brother, Clifton Everett Burkes.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Gateway Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at Gateway Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2016. Interment will be held in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens of Clarksville, TN.
