Mr. Arlan Dean Gates, of Clarksville, passed away on October 29th, 2014 at Vanderbilt University in Nashville at the age of 76. He was born in DeKalb, IL on January 21st, 1938 to the late Randall and J.H. Corine Carlson Gates. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Becky Parker; and three brothers, Robert, Ronald, and Gary Gates.
Mr. Gates was retired from the United States Army after 25 years of service to our country. He also did civil service for 21 years following his military retirement. He was an avid bowler, golfer, and was also a history buff and dog lover.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carole Remala Gates of Clarksville; two sons, Alan Gates (Jean) of Hebron,IL; Gary Gates of Sycamore, IL; one daughter, Bonnie McCaslin (Ron) of Serena, IL; mother-in-law Delia Remala of Sycamore, IL; brother James Gates (Rita) of Crystal Falls, MI; six grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a special nephew, Terry Gates of Colleyville, TX and his dog Cookie.
